Dalet (Fourth) Grade Curriculum Overview

Reading and Language Arts

  • Read fiction, non-fiction, biographies, and other genres
  • Differentiate fact and opinion
  • Determine cause and effect
  • Increase vocabulary
  • Increase fluency and accuracy
  • Compare and contrast
  • Identify main ideas and supportive details
  • Use dictionary, thesaurus and glossary

Math Goals:

  • Manipulate place value to millions
  • Round whole numbers to estimate appropriately
  • Recognize U.S. and metric systems
  • Extend vocabulary in Roman numerals
  • Apply math skills as they relate to life
  • Understand patterns and algebraic reasoning
  • Develop calculation skills
  • Compare and order fractions
  • Interpret and create graphs, charts and pictures 

Social Studies Goals:

  • Develop map skills
  • Analyze regions of the U.S.
  • Compare and contrast vegetation, climate, natural resources, and major physical features
  • Understand the unique features of the State of Oklahoma

Science Skills:

  • Use the scientific method to observe objects, organisms, and events
  • Recognize position and motion of objects which can be changed by pushing or pulling =Interpret & communicate using tables, line graphs, and bar graphs

 Judaica (4th/5th grade - 2 year cycle)

  • Learn basic prayers
  • Recognize Israel through maps, history, and geography
  • Become familiar with Sephardic/Azhenazic Judaism
  • Become aware of Jewish immigration
  • Study modern Israel
  • Study ethics, holidays, customs, and traditions
  • Engage in weekly bible study - judges and prophets

 Hebrew

Learn Hebrew as a spoken and written language through:

  • Stories
  • Songs
  •  Pictures
  •  Skits

Lessons by involving all the five senses

Hebrew will support Judaica program

 Study Skills

 The student will:

  • Work independently
  • Become a focused listener
  • Practice self-monitoring
  • Develop note-taking, outlining, and overall organizational skills
